Combining influences such as Oasis, Kasabian, The Libertines, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, emerging band The Syons are a swirling storm of British alt-rock.

Hailing from the Syon area in Isleworth, the band launched their new single, “Lonely London Town” single to a much-delighted, packed house at Hampstead Arts Club several days ago. Only their second single, the track is a strong one, and you’d be forgiven for thinking that this is an industry time-served band on the go for the guts of a decade. In fact, they have debuted not two months ago, and most certainly have many more tricks up their sleeve. Dubbing their sound, “Loser Music”, their style is nostalgic and a little rough around the edges - aligning them very closely to the likes of Oasis and Kasabian indeed. The driving, swing-rhythm guitar groove draws you in from the first second, steeping you in a familiar English rock sound that has potential for more flavour as their discography grows. About the single, the band explained:

“The song should feel like you’re marching into a battle. When we wrote it we envisaged the riff being played at a footie ground just as the teams were about to kick off….

With riffs out for a bit of blood, a tight kit sound that does exactly what it needs to do, and splashes of backing vocals to nod to the band’s British invasion influences, the single is all tied together in two minutes and eighteen seconds by producer Alfie Crews. Short and sweet, but with a bit of attitude of course.
