Pop-punk newcomers Kyral release new single “The Tide”

“If you’re looking for relaxing music, then you’re looking in the wrong place”

FFO: Paramore, Periphery, Don Broco

A progressive pop-punk band from Dublin, Kyral are “injecting the chaos back into guitar music”.

Beginning in the depths of Lockdown, the solitude allowed guitarist Tara Behan to lock into a unique sound, pushing 2000’s emo rock to strange, new places. Knowing that she was onto something special, she enlisted longtime friend Alex Webb on vocals, and the two forces began to brew a frentic, arresting sound. Running the gauntlet of auditions to complete their rhythm section, Jack Lennon (Drums) and Tom Ambrose (Bass) secured the gig, solidyfing an unyielding foundation upon which Kyral’s music builds to dizzying heights.

“The Tide” is a single that all started in Iceland. The deafening roar of Gullfoss waterfall was inescapable - as the water cascaded down the 20 metre drop, a subtle rhythm of inhalation and release developed, leaving bassist Tom captivated, and compelled to capture this crashing, explosive power. Tara and Jack took Tom’s rough demo, elevating it to the next level by introducing thunderous drums, subtle grooves, and susurrant lead guitar parts.

Alex’s vocals appear like a siren, piercing through the waterfall’s mist - delicate yet deadly all at once. She reflects on past relationships, reconciliations and the struggle of moving forward into uncharted waters, boldly exploring the “challenges of grieving the end of relationships and friendships, and the process of coming to terms with life without important people”.
