Irish Folk Artist Moon Looks On releases, “Gypsy Fires”
FFO: Ben Howard, Vance Joy, Fleet Foxes, Passenger, Dermot Kennedy
Released via Cauldron Records, “Gypsy Fires” features Martin Ditchum (Mark Knopfler) on drums, Bill Shanley (Ray Davies/The Kinks) on guitars, mastering duties tackled by Denis Blackham and all recorded in Madison Studios in Dublin.
Written on the banks of the Corrib, “Gypsy Fires” is a song about the “scars that linger, each with its own story - wild nights with friends, and deep conversations that stretch into the early hours, even as some of those friends have faded with time”. A song about survival and celebration, “where joy and loss meet in the glow of the fire”, the single is another strong offering from the solo-artist, who combines elements of soft rock and wistful electronic production in the new release. About the single, the artist explains:
“I wrote the first draft a few years ago, when life was raw, and the nights in Galway were full of unforgettable faces and unbreakable bonds.”
Moon Looks On, AKA Stephen Gormley, remains delicate yet powerful in his stylistic brand of Irish folk, that continues to mature with each year.
