Irish post-punkers Slightly Dishevelled release new single “Bank Account”
The single is the first from their upcoming debut album
A 5-piece noise ensemble, living scattered across Ireland, Slightly Dishevelled combine an eclectic mix of artistic interests, which are somewhat indiscernible to their “absurdist blend of sound”.
After playing many gigs across the country, their songs became morphed and mangled, and the group were insistent on capturing the abstraction in their own “dishevelled" way. Their non- compromising attitude led them to an Achill Island studio in 2023, resulting in their debut album: "Dirty Dishes and the West Wing", which is set for release in February.
“Bank Account”, the first single from this album, is quick to showcase the slightly dishevelled nature of Slightly Dishevelled (in a positive, noisy-DIY-rock kind of way). Combining thumping drum and bass, imploding, pedal-heavy guitars and syncopated rhythms to catalyse feelings of anxiety and paranoia, the band mimick jackhammers and sirena via the guitar and theremin, setting the scene for quite the disorderly tale.
It’s a commanding first listen to the album, and Irish punk and noise fans should look forward to hearing the band’s debut collection of organised chaos in full.
