ABOUT COBRA PROMOTIONS

Cobra Promotions is an independent, boutique Irish PR agency and music blog founded by Rhí McPhelim. Formerly known as RuaMedia, the platform rebranded in December 2021 to become a rock, roots and alternative focused music platform.

Our work includes:

  • Curating over 90 Spotify playlists

  • Designing all-genre inclusive PR content

  • Creating PR and marketing directories / resources

  • PR Services - Media Outreach, Radio Plugging & Release Strategy

CORE AIMS

1. Contribute to the development & exposure of independent rock & roots acts in the music industry.

2. Share knowledge and create resources to help educate independent and emerging acts on their journey to prominence.

3. Develop as a tastemaker in the rock & roots industry.

4. Offer emerging and aspiring journalists the chance to contribute to the platform and support their creative development.

5. Collaborate with fellow independent organizations, companies, publications and industry professionals to foster better communication and support in the music industry.


ABOUT RHÍ

Rhí McPhelim is a musician, journalist and publicist from County Monaghan. She has contributed articles to independent UK publications such as Nightowl Music Promotions & MGMT, Soundwave Magazine, ICK. Magazine and Right Chord Music.

In 2023, she became PR & Communications Manager at Drop Rocket, an emerging piece of release management software specifically designed for independent musicians.

In June 2024, she joined the team at Your Roots Are Showing, Ireland’s Folk Conference, as PR & Communications assistant to support 2025’s event.
