Kaleo announce a hiatus from touring
Fans of Icelandic-American rock outfit Kaleo will be devastated to hear that the four-piece have decided to step back from touring for the foreseeable future.
Sharing the announcement after playing their Ireland show in the Iveagh Gardens, Dublin (with support from Belfast duo Dea Matrona), the band stated that the decision will come into effect at the conclusion of their European tour, which finishes in Paris on the 22nd of July.
The decision also means that the band will be pulling out of their support slot for Greta Van Fleet’s forthcoming starcatcher tour in North America. They stated:
“We’re truly humbled that the members of GVF have been so overly supportive and we wish them nothing but the best”
Performing nearly 100 gigs in 2022 alone, the band also made first-time appearances this year in New Zealand and Australia. Intending to take some time to “rest, recharge and focus on personal well-being, both mental and physical”, between tours, prior commitments have resulted in the band being unable to follow their plan.
Worn-out from their extensive schedule, fans are voicing their support for the band for making this decision. Dublin gig-goers praised the performance last night in the Iveagh Gardens, but sensed the band’s fatigue onstage, who had arrived on Irish soil after playing two-nights in a row, first in Spain, then Belgium.
Fans appear pleased that the band are putting their health first, and hope to see the Icelandic rockers return to the stage sooner rather than later.
