Formed in Autumn 2022, Lipgloss are an exciting emerging four-piece from Belfast. A glorious blend of Alanis Morrissette, The Cranberries, Cocteau Twins and Nirvana, the quartet take the grittiness of grunge with the infectious nature of pop to create an irresistible blend.
The Debut
Releasing debut single, “Better off this way” back in May, YouIdiotKid described the track as a “killer opening statement from a superb new band”, and I couldn’t agree more. Mastering fuzzy, hazy tones, this euphoric track is a versatile one: Play it as you run through a field on a warm summer evening, on a late night drive with the wind pouring through the windows, or cozied up next to someone close at 3am. Soaked in reverb, the 80s grunge-pop inspired sound has a durable nostalgia that will mark this track as a comfort song for many.

What's your fondest memory of creating your debut single?
Practicing the tune for the first time and it sounding class. That was when we realised it should be our single.
How does it feel to be a newly emerging act in the Irish/NI music scene?
It’s been great so far. We don’t have that toxic competitive vibe with other bands here - which is far too common.
How do you all bring your individual character to the group?
Through just chillin together all the time. We’re all genuinely best mates and enjoy eachothers company. We always hang out together and go on double dates.
What's on the cards for the rest of the year?
More tunes yeo!

Belfast has a brilliant grunge-shoegazey-psychedelic hybrid scene brewing at the moment, and I have a feeling Lipgloss will rise to the top. Their debut is a high-class one, so check out this band and earn your bragging rights before they become one of Northern Ireland’s most in-demand acts!
