“Make or Break”: The new single from Lake Acacia
Their fourth release of 2023, UK two-piece Lake Acacia are keeping theIR flame burning hot.
Something of a contemporary rock wildcard, Lake Acacia offer an intriguing electronic driven sound that will leave you buzzed. Formed by members Tim (vocals, bass, synth) and Joe (drums, backing vocals, percussion synths, triggers), the band present an incredibly textured, stadium rock sound, joining the likes of Royal Blood, The White Stripes and The Black Keys as duos who can effortlessly match the sound density of four/five-piece acts.
New single, “Make or Break” is riffs and breakdowns galore, so it’s no surprise that the band cite Muse as a major influence. Bass drum and crash cymbal heavy, it’s refreshing to see member Joe switching between the kit and a drum pad - arguably akin to that of Alex Van Halen, who pushed the boundaries of the genre in the 80s by dipping between acoustic and electronic kits.
The duo are challenging in their own right, bridging a gap between rock, metal and trap styles to put a new twist on the standard, “hard rock” sound. Giving us an insight into the meaning behind the track, the band stated:
"[Make or break is about] The frustration of being constantly being caught up in multiple tasks which take your full attention away from the things you feel most passionate about. It can feel as though time is slipping away, little by little. Once you find yourself in this position, it can feel next to impossible to get back on top of it all again."
High-energy and intense, Lake Acacia do not hold back. Comfortable with bending genres to build their own soundboard, the UK duo truly are on an upward trajectory.
