whAte: Indie-Punk for progress
Cobra Promotions - Artist Spotlight
Born in 2016, whAte is a two-piece rock outfit that dip into punk, blues and classical styles. Formed in the UK by members Dave and Campbell, the duo believe in “shouting to make the world a better place” through their music.
Playing in top Birmingham venues such as the O2 Institute, The Dark Horse, Muthers Studio and the Sunflower Lounge, the talented duo are building a loyal local fanbase as they begin to look to the rest of the UK.
The Debut
Released in 2022, debut single “Can’t breath anymore” kicked off the band’s still young journey. Representing the band’s anger over the factors of life that don’t “let you breath”, the song is a musical exit for those wishing to escape. Boasting airplay on Hive Radio (UK) and Amazing Radio (USA), the song is the most candid of introductions to two talented musicians who want the world to do better.
Keeping the momentum:
Subsequent release, “Brainman” builds on the message of their debut; fighting against ignorance and encouraging their community to never give up. Dipping into a darker atmosphere, the track contrasts this depth with soaring, uplifting vocals, to create a powerful style akin to UK legends, Muse. Citing Matt Bellamy as a huge inspiration of theirs, it’s no wonder that the duo have already managed to so effectively navigate the use of electronic textures, lyrical themes and slow-burn soundscapes.
What’s Next:
Both released singles are set to included in the band’s upcoming album, “Open Field”. A collection of eleven tracks just waiting to be recorded, the band’s current ambition is to build anticipation by growing their live presence across the UK.
The band are also looking for a drummer, bassist and keyboard player to join their line-up. Get in touch below!
