Act of the week: Face of the earth
Comprised of Fabian Gillick and Siobhan Denton, Face of the Earth are a two- piece packed with punch.
On a humble rise to prominence since 2016, the Cavan band have enjoyed stellar achievements, including being crowned Ulster winners of Star Nation in 2020.
Akin to our last act of the week (Belfast fuzz-rock kings Fagash McCann), Face of the Earth add huge credibility to the capabilities of duos. A drums-and-bass pairing truly can succeed all expectations, and achieve powerful, dense textures better than the next four or five piece.
Face of the Earth have a great character: Combining thick 4/4 grooves with riffs that are often melodically in unison with the lyrics, the duo create quite the hefty alt-rock sound. Though having not released new material on their Spotify since 2018, the band have recently gigged in venues such as Toales, Dundalk, so we hope that the duo will be delivering more great repertoire in the near future.
