Belfast band ANOMALyS announce upcoming single, “Runaways”
The band are entering a new era for their sound, and we can’t wait to see them evolve
If you’re looking for a new Northern Irish band who are a colourful, soupy mixture of Two Door Cinema Club, The Killers and King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, then you’ve come to the right place.
Formed by vocalist and keyboardist Stephen Moreland and lead guitarist Louis Orr in Queen’s University in 2022, ANOMALyS is rounded out by bassist Padraig Manning and drummer Luka Maxwell. Initially covering everything from sun-drenched jangle pop to chest thumping blues rock, upcoming single "Runaways" (out November 1st) sees the band lean deep into a spirited alt-pop sound, one year on from the release of their debut self-titled EP.
"Runaways" is a high-energy track bound with funk and R 'n' B tinted grooves, dashes of chunky guitar, hooks galore and a range of synths to top it off. With PR in progress by yours truly, this is one of the funnest releases we’ve ever had the pleasure of working on. Northern Ireland has an amazing, growing community of alt-pop and indie bands, and as ANOMALyS branch into this style direction, they too will join the fantastic range of acts from the area.
