ANOMALyS release “Runaways” and kickstart alt-pop journey

Some hooky, synthy, indie-alt-pop-rock goodness on this fine new music friday

ANOMALyS are a mixed-bag, indie driven band born in Queen's University in 2022.

Formed by vocalist and keyboardist Stephen Moreland and lead guitarist Louis Orr, the wildcard duo are rounded out by bassist Padraig Manning and drummer Luka Maxwell. Covering everything from sun-drenched jangle pop to chest thumping blues rock, new single "Runaways" sees the band lean deep into a spirited alt-pop sound, one year on from the release of their debut self-titled EP.

Dynamic, charming and overflowing with energy, "Runaways" is bound with funk and R 'n' B tinted grooves, dashes of chunky guitar, hooks galore and a range of synths to top it off. One flavoursome indie track, it's a soupy mixture of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Alt J, Two Door Cinema Club, The Killers and The Black Keys. About the single, the band explain:

'We could claim the song has some deeper meaning, but it dosent. Its just a party song. Made possible by the outrageous synth collection of Rocky O'Reilly at Start Together Studios'
