“Crazy”: The new single from dirty Phil

BORN IN 2017, Dirty Phil took shape after some long-time friends wished to deliver melodic rock and blues to the masses.

Romanian band Dirty Phil

Led by guitarist Patrick de Landtsheer and vocalist Davy Van Engel, the arrival of solo-guitarist Jens De Borst, who put his finger on the group’s sound with his virtuoso playing, allowed the band to truly take off before soon being joined by drummer/singer Eddy Callebaut and bassist Steven De Glas. Taking tentative steps as a debut act, the positive response from local audiences encouraged the band to work on and release their debut EP: A collection of four tracks that was released earlier this year.

Offering a matured, mellow rock sound, the band warmly welcome touches of funk, reggae and blues to their character. Lead track “Crazy”, dips into a delicate funk-tinted style, with the main ostinato nodding to traditional European and Balkan scales. Written by Callebaut, the track explores the topic of turbulent relationships, and the importance of removing yourself from a poor situation:

“The song crazy came about after my own experiences, with people close to me, in how destructive a bad relationship can be. I wanted to make it clear that there is always a way to escape this, if you have enough courage and help to put a stop to it and move on”

An encouraging track delivered through the scope of wisdom and life-experience, “Crazy” is an accessible, easy-listening single for every rock fan.
