Dumb Posh Hippies Release New Single "Parasitus Socialitus"

Dumb Posh Hippies is a psych-influenced, three-piece punk band from Dublin/Derry with a love for big riffs and pace.

Radiating enough energy to take the head off of any gig-goer, the band boast a string of shows across Dublin’s best small venues - Sin É, Fibbers, The Thomas House and LoSt LaNe, to name but a few. Featured in Nialler9, The Thin Air, RTÉ Entertainment, McGig Music, and Pure M Zine, the band's ear-busting sound is spreading to the four corners of Ireland, and fast.

Their work spanning two-minute punkers, to five-minute psychedelic tracks, to remixed songs reimagined by some of the country's finest emerging producers, Dumb Posh Hippies are solidifying their place as Ireland's titan psych-punkers, who hold collaboration at their core.

Recorded with Darragh Hansard in Orc's Lair Studios in Dublin, upcoming single "Parasitus Socialitus" showcases the band's heavier side, building in intensity from the breakdown to kneel deep into the grit of hardcore punk.

About the single, lead vocalist & guitarist Ciarán Fitz explains:

"The bones of the single is mainly based on two chords. I came with the song to the lads, with the riff and the lyrics fully done, and it developed to become another straight punker.

But in the rehearsal room, the jazz-influenced breakdown happened spontaneously, giving it a bit of a different edge.  The lyrics are also pretty on the nose. We've all heard of a love letter, but the song is a bit of a hate letter, to the parasitic scenesters from past lives"

Sharp-eared listeners and fans of Bad Religion may also catch the sound of Parasitus Socialitus' concluding bass riff, which was inspired by the song  "You", by the American hardcore band, who are a personal influence of Fitz's.  He adds:

"Bad Religion was a big influence on me when I was a teenager, so we've been dying to get this single out. We've been sitting on the recording for a while, and are buzzing to have it out early in 2025".
