Gold Fever release summer indie-anthem, "Leather (Wish I felt the same)"
Carrying over the dynamic from LAST release, “DB Cooper”, Bristol quartet Gold Fever return with another introspective, catchy indie-rock track.
Aligning with the bouncy but punchy style of U2 and The War on Drugs, Gold Fever aspire to make crowds move, audiences feel and listeners think. Showing us their vulnerable side, new single “Leather (Wish I felt the same)” explores the intimacies of personal relationships and the emotional impacts of time and change. Their third single to date, the track was recorded with producer Joe Garcia in Bristol, who spotlights the band’s feelgood sound and brings vocalist Oscar JD Sault’s lyrical prowess to the forefront. The singer gave us an insight into the track:
“‘Leather’ is about transition and how that was applicable to many aspects of my life at the time of writing. I felt stagnant while things around me changed. My perspective on my home city of Bristol became suffocatingly melancholic. Ultimately, I realised it was me who was losing myself. That kind of nostalgia is intoxicating, it’s surreal and numbing and almost feels sentient. ‘Leather’ is a song about forgetting who you are.”
As the Bristol Gig Guide put it, Gold Fever are somewhat hard to pigeonhole, but are displaying much promise as a four-piece. Recently selected as one of 25 finalists in Lakefest’s national emerging talent competition, and backed by outlets such as BBC Introducing, CLASH and Clunk Magazine, the band are all in, and so are their fans. The new single is characteristically indie, yet possess an enigmatic aura that will leave you positively intrigued. Sealing the track with dazzling guitar tones and humming basslines over a pummeling 4/4, “Leather (Wish I felt the same)” is a sprightly track with a bold spark.
