Nerves announce debut EP with first single, “Empty”

The experimental rockers are creating quite the word-of-mouth buzz in the run up to their “glórach” EP.

Building a reputation as one of Ireland’s must-see live acts, the West-coast rockers have had a consistent run of headline and support shows over the past two years, recently making their UK debut at The Windmill in Brixton.

Spending time in between their sweaty gigs refining their sound, the band are delighted to announce news of their debut EP, “Glórach” arriving on March 15th. Kicking off the campaign with lead-track, “Empty”, the single is a “brutalist slab of heavily effected droning guitar and bass”, featuring “corrosive blasts of feedback and gut-wrenching vocals centered around the persistence of grief over time”. As evident from the new single, their previous release “Leigue”, and a former single I miss incredibly dearly on Spotify (“Slow Drive”), the band pull off an intense marriage of gothic punk soundscapes with industrial overtones, dealing with themes such as loss, mental health, degradation and emigration in Ireland.

Previously compared to acts such as My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Big Back and Bauhaus, the band tell us that the sound across the upcoming five-track EP will be harder to define.  “Empty” is already a good slap in the face, and at the core of their "noise”, is three talented members who can demonstrate dynamic control, textural interest and excellent arranging skills. A track that’s like a piece of cinema all on it’s own, “Empty” speaks very good things of the forthcoming EP.
