New Alt Rock: Krooked Tongue + “Nothing Ever Grows”
Another relentless new single from the Bristol trio
Bursting onto the scene with the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP ‘No Vacancy Hotel’ in February of 2022, which was recorded with Josh Gallop (Phoxjaw, Mother Vulture) at Stage 2 Studios, Krooked Tongue have gone from strength to strength since the release of that defining collection.
Recently enjoying their biggest support tour to date, (supporting Kid Brunswick on his final ‘Dead Forever’ tour across the UK), they have also recently shared the stage with False Heads, Virgin Marys, Phoxjaw, Moriaty, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Soap Girls and Mother Vulture. Latest single, “Nothing Ever Grows” sees the band collaborate with long-time producer Josh Gallop in Bath once again, bringing the new brooding number, which serves to highlight the importance of a positive mental attitude, to life.
Describing the single, vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford explained:
“‘Nothing Ever Grows' is a right moody geezer of a song. It was one of those tunes that transpired really quickly and it just captured the essence of the mood perfectly. I think it stems from frustration with yourself when you can't finish that idea, or that lyric.
It's an ode to the tortured artist. It's a splash of cold water, a slap across the face followed by a shot of whiskey. A defibrillating wake up call to say 'Oi, if you don't get yourself in a better headspace, nothing good or prosperous can come out of it'. Hence 'Nothing Ever Grows'. And I think that relates to every aspect of life, not just to creativity”
Time and time again, Krooked Tongue deliver the goods. In the alternative rock music world, they’re a goldmine of ideas all built on a strong signature sound. “Nothing Ever Grows” uses their distinct recipe - a brooding, rumbling cocktail we can never get enough of.
