NuMuze Launches NI Music Scene-Focused Podcast with First Episode, Featuring Charlie Hanlon
Bridging the gap between the Belfast and Derry music scene.
The NuMuze Podcast, Hosted by Lewis Nevin, is a vibrant exploration of the local music scenes in Belfast and Derry, offering listeners an intimate look at the emerging artists, established talents, and unique stories that shape the region's soundscape. Each episode features engaging interviews with musicians, producers, and industry insiders, as well as discussions on cultural influences, creative processes, and the challenges faced by artists in Northern Ireland. With a focus on promoting local talent and fostering a sense of community, the podcast serves as a platform for voices often overlooked, making it a must-listen for music enthusiasts and local supporters. Two episodes of the series were filmed in Derry, and two in Belfast, with the podcast offering both audio-only and a multi-cam visual way of enjoying.
Founder Lewis Nevin explains that he had always wanted to start a podcast, so he brought the idea to local engineer and musician Caoilfhinn McFadden after a few too many cans of Red Stripe one evening, in the Ulster Sports Club's smoking area. They made a promise that they would follow up on the drunk conversation, and the pair eventually got to recording it in February.
Across the episodes, Lewis speaks to a range of different musicians, from Belfast-based punk rock band AOA, to Derry-based folk duo Tessio and Letterkenny-based solo-artist Arn. Lewis plans to start filming season two this incoming summer, already looking very promising with some incredibly exciting guests confirmed. Stay tuned!
