Estonian Band Town Flesh Release Nostalgic New Single ‘Miracle Worker’
Evoking the jangly soundscapes of The Smiths and The Stone Roses, Estonian indie band Town Flesh’s latest single continues to carve their effortlessly cool, 80s-tinted sound.
The Tallinn five-piece are quite the new-born band, forming in 2025 with a mishmash of members from various local groups such as Holy Motors and The Boondocks. Taking their name from a Mark E Smith's book, Town Flesh aim to bring romance, realism and the bittersweet back to indie rock, citing The Smiths, The Byrds, Suede, Roxy Music, Bowie and T Rex as cornerstones of their style.
"Miracle Worker" is only the band’s second release, evoking the aforementioned jangly side of affairs. The single sounds as if it’s been plucked straight from a defining soundtrack of a coming-of-age masterpiece, where the push and pull of an angsty youth is explored with grit and charm. This single is also the inaugural release for the new label to which the band have been signed, East x West Records, which is British-Estonian connection for underground artists formed by ex BBC and Liverpool's Issy Hughes and Radio 2's Sander Varusk, who are growing their roster as we speak. One thing’s for certain - they’ve made an excellent decision bringing Town Flesh onboard.
Heading into 2026, this is a band we’re looking forward to hearing a lot more from. If this single is anything to go by, there’s exceptional potential to be moulded, and with their advantageous ties to the UK, we won’t be surprised to soon see them on bills supporting the likes of The Lathums, Blossoms, The Snuts and Circa Waves. There’s always something so warming about hearing new bands with such a nostalgic, sophisticated sound, as if they have lived many lives before, and we’re the lucky generation worthy to ingest their golden nuggets of wisdom.
Exciting times ahead for Town Flesh.
