New Pop-Rock: Eruption Artistique + “HIHA The Acid Alpaca”

Psychedelic sounds from the eclectic collective

Hailing from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Eruption Artistique is a creative melting pot, comprised of musicians (Bas and Sara), filmmakers (Jean Paul Gummo, Mike, Vinnie), photographers (Jean Paul Gummo) and actors. Formed during the pandemic, the combo were brought together through a shared love for “pure indie RNR and absurdistic clips. Strongly influenced by The Doors, Andy Warhol, Velvet Underground, The Brianjonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols, the band’s diverse tastes makes for quite the colourful sonic palette, which combines indie, folk, pop and electronica styles into one hazy concoction.

Recorded, mixed and mastered at Charlatan studio in Rotterdam by “music magician” Emil, the track is centered around the concept of a “girl so pretty that all the ancient gods would be love with her”, delving into interests in mythology and folklore. About their sound, the explain:

Our music is who we are, beautiful, art lovers, dark, chaotic, post modern, and with a big big big love for everything from the 1960s…

Eruption Artistique have a real whirlwind sound, and the first listen to this track was quite the journey. Is it folk tinted? Pop driven? Classic rock inspired? The band say yes to all, and we like this very much…..
