Dragging garage-rock to all new lows (in a good way): “Rest In Bits” by Peer Pleasure
The newly shorn Peer Pleasure waste no time cutting to the chase right out of the gate.
Throwing an explosive grenades worth of fuzzed-out surf grooves and primal rock and roll riffage at the listener right from the starting pistol, Wexford natives Peer Pleasure stew up a potent elixir of influences. Ranging somewhere between an undaunted Stooges-esque stomper and a mid 1950s Big Bopper chart topper (then possibly deciding to kick the whole pot down the stairs just for the fun of it), the band present quite the menacing sound.
Recorded at Dublin’s hellfire studios, the single is the fourth from the band, ahead of a soon-to-be-announced EP. Engineered by Joe McGrath, mixed by Ivan Jackman and mastered by Killian Taylor, the team capture the sizzle of Peer Pleasure’s steak, placing them in a very good place as they work towards their debut collection. On the meaning behind the track, front man Brandon Murphy explains:
“Each line of ‘Rest In Bits’ refers to or reflects on a real-life human being I knew who is now dead. It’s more on the nose than previous offerings but that's fine. They are in fact dead. Which is pretty on the nose.

Are you fond?
Would you be fond?
Of the drink."
Comprised of Murphy, Cein O’Dowd, Erik Murphy, Fiachra Carey, Jack Joyce, Jeff Miller, Joel Pitcher and Joseph O’Gorman, you’d be right to expect nothing short of powerful from this group, and “Rest in Bits” sees their mega-sound in full force. Adopting a DIY ethos that has taken them to Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany, the band are shaking the shoulders of crowds near and far - so be prepared to get your shoulders shook.
