Sonic Furs reveal new single, “Roar”

There’s a new king in the indie jungle…..

The combined musical vision of Tom Duffy, Jessy Danner & Ruairí Lenaghan, Sonic Furs are a brand new indie-rock and disco-esque outfit from Ireland and the US. Forming pre-pandemic, the band are already laying down the path towards their debut album, and are delighted to present their first single offering from this collection. A track that, “introduces itself by kicking down the door to your house but simultaneously treats the listener to a well written mannerly piece that leaves you gasping for more”, it’s one for fans who like a good mishmash of influences. If you’re looking for some sort of hybrid between Greenday, Two Door Cinema Club and BellX1, then Sonic Furs is a name you won’t want to forget. On the inspiration behind “Roar”, vocalist Tom Duffy explains:

“Following my fathers passing, what was meant to be a whirlwind trip to Ireland in an effort to connect with the loss, turned into finding a new home and life in Dublin.

‘Roar’ discusses the doubts I had and in many ways, still have about my decision to return to Ireland. The song is a homage to my father, how the loss gave me the drive to make this tune and begin the journey of Sonic Furs. The song title comes from my father's family crest, the Duffy Lion and was the main inspiration for both the lyrics and instrumental crescendo throughout ‘Roar’.”

Recorded at Dublin’s Sonic Studios, the song features Andy McGurk (A Lethal Black Ooze) on bass and the production talent of Iain Faulkner (Tau and the Drones of Praise, Gurriers, The Mary Wallopers).  A zesty indie-rock track bound with harmonies, mechanic riffs and a real hunger for impact, “Roar” is the perfect track to lead us on the way to their debut album.
