DOGPOND release third single “HANGING OUT WITH A-TRAY”
The track pays homage to independent festivals and the people, cultures, arts, and influences that shape them.
The latest musical venture for former rock and roll sensations The Hot Sprockets & Punch Face Champions, DOGPOND are instantly a band of high quality and high esteem. Writing, recording producing and mixing everything themselves, the four-piece offer an incredible DIY ethos, built on their years of experience as performers, songwriters and industrymen.
Latest single, “Hanging Out With A-Tray” features raw, soulful vocals, classic blues guitar licks, a bass that could “make your grandmother groove”, signature ‘Diamond 600’ organ playing and a solid driving back beat. Topped off with the guest backing vocals of good friend and long-time collaborator, Amy Kelly, a.k.a ANDI music, the song is a specific ode to the Knockanstockan festival, and the people that made it. Vocalist Tim explains,
Festival culture is a powerful thing, it’s rooted in our DNA. Some might say it’s a necessity! Humans have been holding festivals for thousands of years. A chance to meet up with people of all kind, to celebrate and share our love of the arts. What a beautiful thing; is the arts! An expression of the mind. It is how humanity has evolved. Through sharing the arts, we bond, and through bonding, we evolve.
A slightly rugged single bound with charm, the band hold a mighty fine balance between a classic and contemporary sound. Their rootsy character brings skill, broad influences and a good-old catchiness to the table, which is set with their fancy cutlery - a slick, nostalgic production style. Here’s to lots more weaving between the old and new with DOGPOND.
