Joe Maxi release “The Game” [Punk / Experimental Rock]

Two weeks after releasing the mighty, heavy single “Butterfly”, the Dublin boys dial back the speed and turn up the mystery in new single

FFO: Pixies, Black MIDI, Gilla Band, Viagra Boys, Iggy Pop, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Deftones, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Nirvana.

‘The Game’ finds the band veering between being the resident lounge act for a very David Lynch cabaret, and spilling all manner of sonic dissonance and hell upon us. The juxtaposition of these movements serve to pull the listener deeper and deeper into their psychosis, masterminded by Joe Maxi.

Mikey Fowler (vocals/guitar), says the track is based around the idea that since his mid-teens, he has tricked himself into believing he’s living in a simulation - one that he is happily enjoying. In the new single, he takes the opportunity to share his world view in the context of his simulated experience, also toucheing on how he believes people are overworked and lack time for connection, as well as discussing the rise of AI and its effect on how we tell stories.

The second single taken from the band’s forthcoming EP of the same name, there’s no escaping the incoming wrath of the cryptic Joe Maxi. But this is a game you do want to play…
