Irish Artist Papa Boyle releases retro single “Falling For A Daydream”
Taking inspiration from the retro sounds of the ’50s and 60’s Rock n Roll era (Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers) with a tinge of modern Indie (Father John Misty, Angel Olsen, Kings Of Leon, Orville Peck) Papa Boyle croons over an ambient landscape filled with rousing melodies and pondering punchlines.
With aspirations for 2024 resulting in a breakout year for the musician who enjoyed gigs across Ireland, Papa Boyle has already seen himself land great success from debut release ‘Between Two Fools’ and follow-up single 'Last Chance Saloon', before ending the year with mesmerising single 'Tranquillo'.
In latest single, ‘Falling For A Daydream’, the rising solo-artist transports the listener to diners of old, bars of new, and crossroads that feel familiar yet unknown at the same time. The artist explains that the song explores the human desire to be lost in thought and the yearning for bigger and brighter days:
"It can be easy to get bogged down in the mundane tasks of life and I wanted this track to have a playful feeling to it that shows its ok to lean in those daydreams, as often times that can be where the best ideas come from."
Musically, Boyle aspired for the song to have a 50’s swing to it, with the choice of guitar tones based on that of the early classic Rock ‘n’ Roll era, but with a slightly more contemporary spin.
"This track has some softer moments but overall I think we captured the energy of the performances of the recording sessions, I’m excited for people to hear Falling For A Daydream and I’m looking forward to a lot more new music coming out this year!"
