Peer Pleasure release live version of “The Real Thing”
a staple OF Their LIVE SET-LIST, THe single comes as one of the band’s most highly-anticipated releases yet.
Recorded live in Hellfire Studios with Joe McGrath and mixed by Ivan Jackman, the song kicks into immediate action, offering an array of “manic synths, blown out fuzz sounds, Narco-country jangle and hillbilly hollering”. Stirring up memories of groups like The Gun Club, The Country Teasers and an overdosing ZZ Top, the bands classic influences run ripe, fueling their DIY ethos and relentless spirit. About the single, frontman Brandon Murphy explains:
“It was one of the first times I’d been drinking and I just witnessed two men in their late 40s argue for a half an hour over the usefulness and necessity of slow cookers. Some time after the fracas had ended one of the gentlemen told us how his wife had left him for the neighbor and now he was paying the mortgage on her new home as well as his. He followed it up with, “Women are good... But there's nothing like the real thing” It took me a few more years to find out what it means..."
Logging a string of intense live performances including Electric Picnic (Salty Dog & Brutopolis), the band are set to perform at Ireland Music Week on October 3rd in Workman's Club, followed by a tour of Ireland including appearances in Dublin, Galway Wexford, Cavan, Ballina, Cork and Derry.
