Galway alt-rock band TaLLLon unveil new single, “TRAPPED”
A group of four teens from Galway, the emerging four piece are alumni of the county’s School of Rock programme with Music Generation.
Chosen as one of the successful applicants of the Tiny Mutiny grant, commissioned by Galway County Council Arts Office in partnership with Sparkcatchers!, the band were awarded the chance to record their original work and have it produced professionally at Sun Street Studios, Tuam - an notable achievement topped off with 2024 appearances which included Headfest Festival Galway, A Day in May at Dolans Warehouse Limerick, Garageland’s Teen-Spirit, and the all new nighttime economy initiative Youth Lates. On their evolving sound, the band explain:
“We like to spend our time working on shaping our unique alternative rock sound, combining covers with original tracks inspired by legendary bands like Weezer, Metallica, Green Day, Nirvana, Thin Lizzy and many others classic Rock, Punk and Grunge icons.”
Striking a “balance between timeless and fresh”, the band are set to be one of Galway’s most exciting music exports in the years to come. New single “TRAPPED”, was recorded and produced by Kenny Ralph in the Tuam-based studio, as per their grant award. One of the first songs penned for their forthcoming EP, vocalist and guitarist Liam Carroll explains:
“As soon as we heard it come together, I just knew it had to be included as one of the singles we put out there for the two single releases in the run up to the E.P. For me I think musically its good, and it is not something I’d expect to write in comparison to the other songs. I think with ‘Trapped’, that I surpassed my own expectations, particularly where the chorus and solo progression is concerned”
A classic-infused, ear-grabbing and high-energy second single from the young Galway band.
