Whitesnake’s Bernie Marsden dies aged 72

The original member of the London band and former member of UFO and Wild Turkey spent his time “writing and recording until the end”, according to family.

Co-writing tracks “Child of Babylon”, “Here I Go Again”, “Would I Lie To You” and many more, Marsden was both a strong lyrical and musical force in Whitesnake, recruited by fellow guitarist Micky Moody. Ending a relationship with the band around 1981, the guitarist appeared onstage for special performances in Sweden and Manchester in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

Vocalist David Coverdale paid tribute to his former bandmate on Instagram:

Selling a collection of amplifiers and speakers from peak Whitesnake fame several years ago, the musician is warmly remembered for his passion for playing and sharing music throughout his life.
